Ralphie and crew are back at the Theatre Centre
“A Christmas Story: The Musical!” is back by popular demand at the Chattanooga Theatre Centre this holiday season. This musical retelling of the classic Christmas film includes all of the best moments from the original story, from the leg lamp to the bunny suit to the Santa slide.
Though this musical is based on the well-loved movie “A Christmas Story,” the movie itself drew inspiration from the stories of Jean Shepherd. Those who have seen the film may remember Shepherd as the narrating voice of Ralph Parker.
Others may know him as a radio personality who started out in the ’50s. Shepherd’s radio work often included stories from his youth, and the character of Ralphie is semi-autobiographical.
With music and lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul and book by Joseph Robinette, this musical is sure to delight the whole family. The production is directed by Scott Dunlap and features a talented ensemble cast of children and adults.
“A Christmas Story: The Musical!” will run at the CTC from Dec. 5-23: Thursdays at 7 p.m., Fridays at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 2:30 p.m. and 8 p.m., and Sundays at 2:30 p.m.
