Every music fan needs a Harry Potter time-turner for days like this
The only drawback to the uptick in great music around Chattanooga is that you can’t be two places at the same time. There are two fantastic shows this Saturday night and seeing one means you’ll miss the other. That’s a shame, but there are worse problems a town can have than “too many brilliant performers.”
On Saturday, Sept, 12th, Ziggy’s on the Northshore will host an “All Surf” show with Genki Genki Panic, Get Hot or Go Home (pictured above), The Compartmentalizationists (featuring Jeffrey Butzer from Atlanta,) and the Evil Streaks from Massachusetts (featuring members of Gein and the Graverobbers and the all-Misfits surf coverband The Crimson Ghosts.) This is THE show to satisfy all of you surf/horror/punk/humor needs with a healthy dose of weird for good measure.
On the other side of the river that same night, JJ’s Bohemia welcomes local favorites Megan Saunders and the Driftless along with friends Rye Baby and a very special guest, the national touring act Candy Lee.
Saunders and Rye Baby have both been featured in The Pulse for their outstanding take on contemporary folk and Americana while the award-winning Candy Lee has been garnering national attention with her “golden-voiced” jazz/folk/indie repertoire.
One night, two shows, it’s a hard choice to make. Whichever you choose though, what is certain is that you’re in for a night of wonderful tunes.
