Ever wondered just what lives in the local creeks? Now’s your chance to find out at that local eco-gem, Audubon Acres. Bring your waterproof (or I-don’t-care-what-happens-to-them) shoes and a net, if you’ve got one, and splash your way along the South Chickamauga Creek. Watch out for fish, invertebrates and the odd salamander. But remember, if Audubon Acres has the same policy as the eco-camp of my youth, Camp Redwood, “You Kill It, You Eat It.” Words to live by!
Creek Exploration, 2-4 p.m. May 25, Audubon Acres, 900 N. Sanctuary Rd. Free after paid admission to the preserve. (423) 892-1499. chattanoogaaudubon.org/audubon-acres
