The local beer industry suffered a loss recently with the closing of Moccasin Bend Brewing Company. But fear not—the barrel hasn’t run dry.
On Feb. 10, MBBC started a Kickstarter campaign to help reopen their doors as soon as possible: “You want to drink our beer, we want you to drink our beer. Let’s make that happen together.”
The goal is raising $20,000 to help MBBC bring their building up to code and add patron requests such as lighting for the parking lot and a wood patio for overcrowding.
MBBC is proud of being a small, self-sufficient brewery that doesn’t rely on outside investors who dictate their decisions. This means money is sometimes tight, but they’re not complaining: “when we look out in the tasting room and see it full of all you gorgeous weirdos/freaks/rednecks/hipsters/hippies/yuppies/geeks/nerds/that-one-guy-with-the-salmon-polo-that-has-two-collars-popped-and-won’t-stop-talking-about-his-three-different-gym-memberships, well—it’s worth it.”
Help save the local jewel that provides Chattanooga with tasty and unusual brews and embraces the “weird” in all people. Pledge as little as $1 for a “heartfelt thanks and huge hug” or $10,000 to gain the power of renaming two of their employees.
Other great rewards include limited addition mugs, naming their fermenters or delivery truck, and creating your own beer from start to finish. For the nitty gritty, check out their Kickstarter page: kickstarter.com/projects/chrishunt/moccasin-bend-brewing-company-reopening
