Local film buffs and filmmakers perked up when it was announced officially that the 2014 Chattanooga Film Festival would happen April 3-6. As the city’s film community continues to evolve and mature, the dream of a festival attracting national and international quality films and talent is getting more support, including from the Lyndhurst Foundation, the Hunter Museum and Carmike Cinemas.
The driving force behind Mise En Scenesters, Chris Dortch, has been named festival director, along with Mara Tasker as director of programming and Grey Watson as chairman.
But you don’t have to just sit back and wait for the lights to dim ahead of the first screening. A call for entries will go out in January (along with a new website), and the festival info has already indicated that local films will be a major component in this year’s event. Got a story that’s just perfect for film? This could be your big chance. Stay tuned for more information.
