McKamey and HES team for 12-hour adopt-a-thon
Part of what makes the holidays special is having a home to go to and a family to be with. And the holidays are often a time of giving back and helping others, but that help doesn’t just include humans.
Our furry friends at McKamey Animal Center and the Humane Education Society (HES) in Chattanooga need a warm place to call home and a family to love them with all their hearts.
On Friday, Dec. 19 from 4 p.m. until 4 a.m., the shelters are teaming up to “help as many animals as possible find a home for the holidays,” during their “Holiday All-Nighter.”
To help reach their goal, all adoption fees will be lowered. Cats can be adopted for $12 and dogs for $24, which will include spay/neuter, vaccinations and micro-chip. Hot chocolate, refreshments and door prizes will be offered—and a pajama contest starts at 11 p.m.
Additionally, both shelters will host the “Home for the Holiday Foster Event,” on Dec. 23. During the event, Hamilton County residents can apply to be foster parents and temporarily take a shelter pet into their home from Dec. 23 to Jan. 2, which, organizers say, usually leads to families adopting their foster pet.
Please help make this the best Christmas ever for a special animal.
