Got a mountain bike? Love to ride it for hours at a time? How about a six-hour race in the middle of the night? SORBA Chattanooga presents the first ever twilight mountain bike race at Enterprise South Nature Park on April 12. Race solo, in duos or trios, and complete as many 10-mile laps as possible in six hours, on some of the best trails in Tennessee.
All racers earn pride and bragging rights, but in addition, the first 200 entrants will receive a reflective event T-shirt—and winners will receive a “super-secret one-of-a-kind trophy.” Swag raffles will also take place after the race. Prizes include one of two Lynskey performance bikes, winner’s choice.
For friends or family who want to cheer you from the sidelines, a vendors’ expo area and Rolling J’s Mobile Bistro will keep them entertained and fed while they wait for you to sprint through the transition area. Because you’ll work up an appetite (and may want some new equipment after a six-hour stint with your own), the expo and food truck will be available for riders as well before and after the race.
According to Michael Long, Night Shift was inspired by what Team SORBA Chattanooga thought would be “wicked fun” to do themselves, and we think they’re right. For more information regarding race time and registration details, visit teamsorbachattanooga.squarespace.com/night-shift. — Dea Lisica
