March of Dimes walks for premature babies on Saturday
Even though these babies can’t walk yet, you should come march for them.
The March for Babies event is Saturday, April 25 at the Tennessee Riverpark, 4301 Amnicola Hwy. March for Babies is a fundraising walk funded by the March of Dimes.
Almost everyone knows the March of Dimes, an organization that raises awareness for premature birth. Their goal is to have the Earth populated with strong, healthy babies. For 75 years they have funded research to find the causes of premature birth and vaccines in order to create a healthier world.
March for Babies is a crucial fundraising event to provide women with the resources to have full-term pregnancies and to support families with a premature baby in newborn intensive care.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the walk begins at 9 a.m. You can register with your company as a team, as a family team, or as an individual. Grab a few friends or coworkers and help save babies’ lives this Saturday!
There will be fun, engaging activities for families and play areas for kids to run around and celebrate. Lunch will be provided for all participants at noon as the conclusion to the event.
Anyone may sign up to attend March for Babies, even if your family has not been affected by premature birth.
Of course there is always recognition for families who have been affected: You can walk with friends and family to celebrate the life of your surviving child, or you can walk in memorial to honor someone special.
Money raised through the fundraising and donations of this event will go to Vanderbilt and St. Jude research facilities to continue healthy growth for premature babies. The funds will provide vaccines for premature babies, newborn screening tests, and folic acid for mothers to have a healthy pregnancy.
The March of Dimes recognizes that preventing premature birth effects starts at the beginning of pregnancy, and the organization strives for awareness so that mothers can take proper care during pregnancy, and the babies have happy, healthy lives.
Marchofdimes.org has resources for mothers who have experienced the effects of premature birth. They can connect with other mothers in forums and share their stories. The website also offers education resources to further the prevention of premature births.
Krista Glastetter with March of Dimes said that they want to make the donation process as easy as possible for their sponsors, so there is an official March of Dimes mobile app for iPhone and Android.
You can also participate in online donating and fundraising on marchforbabies.org.
If you cannot participate in the March for Babies event this weekend, please consider donating to support this vital cause.
