If you were to show up to the upcoming Moonshine Mud Run without any prior research, chances are you’d be left a lot more sober than you expected and a bit more undead. Why? Mostly because Moonshine Mud Run involves not a drop of actual moonshine but rather a rumored horde of 5k participant chasing zombies.
The 2012 Moonshine Mud Run will be held Saturday, October 27 in Trenton, Georgia between Lookout Mountain and Lookout Creek. Gates will open at 7:30 a.m. and the first wave of racers will begin running for their lives at 9:30 a.m. The run features over a dozen military-style obstacles in a muddy 5k course as well as a kids’ run at 9:00 a.m. and a sled pull at 11:00 a.m. Survivors will enjoy an afternoon performance by Murfreesboro based cover band, Dirty Cherry following the race. For those faint of heart or unwilling to ruin a perfectly good pair of shoes, no worries, this is bound to be an equally exciting spectator sport.
So if the opening scenes of Dawn of the Dead have ever incited a call to action for you, then you should register either yourself or a five-person team for Moonshine Mud Run on October 27. For registration and race information visit www.moonshinemudrun.com.
