Les Miserables
Based on a novel by Victor Hugo, Les Miserables tells of redemption and revolution in early 19th-century France. Ex-convict Jean Valjean, imprisoned 19 years for stealing a loaf of bread, becomes a force for good in the world but cannot escape his dark past as he tries to save himself and those around him. Timeless favorites from the musical score include On My Own, I Dreamed a Dream, Do You Hear the People Sing and Bring Him Home. Continuing our tradition of blockbuster summer musicals, Les Miz hits our stage for the first time, leading the way toward our century mark. Previous summer hits have included Anything Goes, Hairspray, Legally Blonde and The Producers. Performances are July 11 through July 27, 2014 (including Saturday matinee and evening performances). Chattanooga Theatre Centre, 400 River St. (423) 267-8538. theatrecentre.com.
