"Sense of Place"
to
River Gallery 400 East Second Street, City of Chattanooga, Tennessee 37405
Our four August exhibiting artists are inspired by a sense of place, texture, and the human experience. Wade Brickhouse draws inspiration from his frequent moves and resulting loss of being rooted to a place. He creates his paper wall sculptures which reference dwellings both ancient and modern. Inspired by the beauty of things imperfect and impermanent, Brooke Marks-Swanson's paintings on metal evoke introspective investigation into the Midwestern landscape. Holden McCurry and Ed Byers create much of their work collaboratively in their studio space. Their textured ceramics reflect on life's symbolic journeys by fusing rich colors and organic forms with architectural influences. River Gallery, 400 E. 2nd St. (423) 265-5033, www.river-gallery.com.
