As part of the North River Civic Center’s Sunset Concert Series, the Chattanooga Clarinet Choir will present a mostly classical concert on Friday, October 14th, under the baton of director Lok Kim. The highlight of the program will be a performance by guest artist Dr. Brian Viliunas of the Concerto for Clarinet by Big Band legend and “King of the Clarinet,” Artie Shaw. Shaw’s concerto is a jazzy exhibition of clarinet virtuosity! Brian Viliunas is an Associate Professor of Music at Samford University, teaching clarinet and conducting all orchestral activities. He was a guest artist and clinician in January at Chattanooga’s River City Clarinet Winter Festival, enchanting all with his warm personality and spectacular musicianship. Local musician James Crumble will also join the Choir to play percussion. Don’t miss this great program!! Free; one hour, beginning at 7:00 P.M.
