Mayor’s Youth Council Summit
Saturday, April 11th 9:30-11:00
Chattanooga Library
The Mayor’s Youth Council (MYC) serves to represent the youth perspective in City government. Its mission is to a) advise the Mayor and Administration on issues relevant to youth b) facilitate communication between City and youth c) act to advance efforts important to youth. The MYC will consist of 20-30 high school juniors and seniors who should reflect the community as a whole and represent every neighborhood.
From January to March, The Mayor asked high school students to come together at City Hall in a series of design sessions. They were joined with their peers to deliberate, share their input, and decide what the Mayor’s Youth Council will look like and how it will work. We’re capturing their thoughts and ideas in a plan, and presenting it for their feedback at the youth council summit.
On April 11th, you’ll have one last chance to help shape the structure of the Mayor’s Youth Council at our Mayor’s Youth Council Summit. The Mayor will present back what he’s heard from you to see if we’ve got it right, hear your feedback, and settle any remaining questions. You can also apply to be a member of the Mayor’s Youth Council, and hear from other great Youth organizations about how you can get more involved in the City. For more information on the summit call Molly Cooper – 643-7800.
