This month's film is a special "Women's History Month" presentation highlighting two of the works of pioneering director Ida Lupino
“The Hitch-Hiker” (1953): Considered by many, including Lupino herself, to be her best film. Two Americans played by Edmond O’Brien and Frank Lovejoy are vacationing in Mexico when their lives are taken over by a psychopathic serial killer played by Emmett Myers. A fascinating film noir character study.
“The Bigamist” (1953): Directed by and starring Ida Lupino with Joan Fontaine, Edmund Gwenn and Edmond O’Brien. A traveling salesman emotionally distanced from his wife meets another woman while traveling and eventually they marry. He leads a double life as a husband to two women.
