Fantasia for Flute and Organ
to
The Church of the Nativity Episcopal Church 1201 Cross Street, Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia
Rebecca Davis plays works for flute, piccolo and organ with organist Kristopher Schwinn. Works include those by Mozart and Donjon, a piccolo sonata by Vivaldi and Krebs’s Fantasia for Flute and Organ. Each work provides a new chance to contrast the concert flute with the organ’s eight flute ranks in different combinations. This performance is part Nativity’s monthly Rising Artists series that features Chattanooga’s most accomplished young musicians playing works for solo instruments and organ. Nativity also presents a Mini-Concert series with organist and music director Kristopher Schwinn.
Rebecca Davis, 21, a junior dual History Education and Music major, is Principal Flute of the SAU Symphony Orchestra and studies with Kristen Holritz, Principal Flute of the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera. Rebecca began playing the piano at age six and flute at age ten. Upon graduation next year, she plans to teach secondary history and music appreciation before pursuing a graduate degree in history. Artistically, her primary interest is music of the late Romantic and 20th Century. Rebecca plans to remain an active musician throughout her life whether or not she is able to integrate music into her future work as a historian.
