Jim Plamour is local entertainer instructor as an outstanding guitarist vocalist. He has done extensive work with the Chattanooga Theatre Center in such performances as Foxfire,Pump Boys and Dinettes, and Smoke on the Mountain. He has played in the stage band at the Mountain Arts Community Center on Signal Mountain and is the service musician for the Christ Unity Church. Also, he has been an active volunteer at Memorial Hospital for the past five years.
For over 70 years the name Jay Craven and MUSIC have been synonymous in the musical life of the greater Chattanooga area. He took his first clarinet lesson in 1941 while in grade school. He began his professional music career in the 1944 at the age of 14 playing in a dance band during WWII. He performed with the Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra for the first time in the fall of 1948. Although he officially retired from the orchestra 50 years later in 1998, he continued to perform on occasion as an “extra” w/ the CSO for the next 10 years.
