Jazz is one of the few arts that can be considered truly American and one of its greatest cultural achievements. Its viability from its early 1900s origins from the South is testament that Jazz transcends race, religion and national boundaries. It unites all audiences. It speaks to the heart, mind and spirit. It is universal. Jazz is a perfect reflection of the Greater Chattanooga area’s diverse and thriving community. Throughout April, dozens of venues will host events to engage the public in America’s only native musical genre. But the tribute doesn’t stop at the end of the month; in Chattanooga, jazz is a tune that’s played all year long. For a full list of events and performers please visit www.jazzanooga.org.
