The Psi Lambda Educational Foundation, Inc. (PLEF) will host its first annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Memorial Scholarship Breakfast on January 19, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Orchard Knob Missionary Baptist Church 1734 East 3rd Street Chattanooga, TN. Tickets are $15.00 each or Table of eight can be reserved for $120. PLEF funds the educational programs of Psi Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. We request and encourage your attendance at this first annual scholarship fundraising event.
We will have a panel discussion moderated by Bro. Booker T. Scruggs II and the featured speakers are Representative Joanne Favors, Hamilton County Tennessee District 28, Rev. Paul A. McDaniel, Retired Pastor Second Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. Ronald Harris, Director of Workplace Diversity BCBS, and Mr. James R. Mapp, President, Chattanooga Chapter of NAACP. The theme and topic of discussion will be:” Civil Rights: the Dream 50 Years Later” how far have we come in the African American Community?
This event serves as multi- purpose: (1) honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’ s Legacy, (2) raising funds for college scholarships, and (3) recognizing outstanding individuals and organizations that have demonstrated Dr. King's action against racism, to end poverty, and his efforts to promote justice and peace.
