MOVE TO AMEND
It is said we have the best democracy money can buy. We wonder how long our democracy can survive under the principle that money is speech, which is why Move to Amend is calling for a Constitutional amendment that clearly states money is not speech, and corporations are not entitled to the same rights as people.
Fiery speaker, lifelong activist, and Move to Amend spokesperson David Cobb will be in Chattanooga to present his views on the thorny issues of corporate spending in our political processes, the real meaning of corporate personhood and the ethical arguments around corporate Constitutional rights.
Move to Amend is a national coalition of over 241,000 people and organizations whose goal is amending the United States Constitution to end corporate rule by building a multiracial, cross-class democracy movement. David's presentations are part history lesson and part heart-felt call-to-action!
The amendment:
We, the People of the United States of America, reject the U.S. Supreme Court's Citizens United ruling, and move to amend our Constitution to firmly establish that money is not speech, and that human beings, not corporations, are persons entitled to constitutional rights.
