CAPTURE - A Community Filmmaking Project, is a unique weekend long event in which participants collectively create documentaries about Chattanooga over a 48-hour period. Chattanoogans of all ages are invited to participate.
The project begins Friday, September 19 at Bessie Smith Cultural Center where the theme of Capture 2014 will be announced. Participants will then have the following 24 hours to capture footage that best represents the theme.
On Saturday, Capture participants submit five 30 second clips to professional editors who will then use the submitted imagery to create 3 mini-documentaries while musicians simultaneously create original scores for each film.
The project concludes on Sunday, September 21 at 5:30 PM with a celebratory community screening featuring awards and live music at Carmike Majestic Theater in downtown Chattanooga.
AVA also welcomes Denny Tedesco, who brings his award-winning documentary "The Wrecking Crew", to Chattanooga for an exclusive screening and Q&A at the kickoff on Sept. 19th. Tedesco will also serve as juror of the films for awards on Sunday. Both the kick off and "The Wrecking Crew" screening are FREE. The screening starts at 7pm.
