On October 30th at 7:00 p.m. Covenant will host Sarah Shafer, soprano, in recital.
The The New York Times has praised Sarah's "luminous voice" and "intensely expressive interpretations,"and Opera News named her “remarkable, artistically mature,” and “a singer to watch.” Covenant College is thrilled to give Ms. Shafer her Chattanooga debut.
Truly a singer whose career is on the rise, Ms. Shafer has already made debuts with international organizations such as The Glyndebourne Festival, BBC Proms, The Philadelphia Orchestra, Opera Philadelphia, San Francisco Opera, and Carnegie Hall. Receiving degrees in Voice Performance and Opera Performance from the Curtis Institute of Music, Ms. Shafer has been an artist at the Marlboro Festival and SongFest (CA).
The evening will feature music by Brahms, Schubert, Copland, Floyd, Debussy and Poulenc, as well as Liszt and Gottschalk, played by Dr. Tim Shafer of Penn State University.
