Stand up Comedy: Grant Lyon
San Francisco Weekly describes Grant Lyon as “a hilariously sharp observer, not one of those tired white-guy bellyachers.” A collegiate soccer player with UC Santa Cruz where he played for a national championship, Grant gave up a professional soccer career to pursue the stage. In 2008, he won the Colorado Comedy Competition, beating out comedians from all over the country. Since then, he has performed at major festivals like the Laughing Skull Comedy Festival and the Bridgetown Comedy Festival, appeared on the nationally syndicated Bob & Tom Show, and opened for names like Robin Williams and Bobby Lee. He is a member of the sketch comedy group Four In The Back whose videos have been featured by sites like Funny or Die and Rooftop Comedy, and he is also a contributing writer to The Huffington Post. His comedy is clever and honest, a unique combination of social commentary and ridiculous observations. Vaudeville Café, 138 Market St., (423) 517-1839, www.funnydinner.com.
