The “Grateful Gobbler” began in 1998, originally called “Walk the Walk,” as part of Homeless Awareness Week.  Thanksgiving Day marks a time to be thankful for the things we have and is also a time to be aware of those who have less.  In November of 2000, ten congregations of different faiths joined the Homeless Coalition of regional service providers in the inaugural Thanksgiving Day Grateful Gobbler Walk.  Regardless of religious beliefs and backgrounds, all participants came together, working toward on common goal: helping the neediest people in our community   With this goal in mind and the tradition of giving on an day recognized as a time of thanks, people from all walks of life walk together and give together.

Supporting the 2013 Grateful Gobbler can help change lives. See, below, how Coalition agencies assisted Mary Lakes, a former client and beneficiary of Gobbler Funds, and 2013 Grand Marshall of the Grateful Gobbler. Right now, there are hundreds of other people in the Greater Chattanooga area, just like Mary, waiting for your assistance.
