Lookout Winery: Wine “The Italian Way”
Wine tasting can be a stressful experience. You wonder whether or not you look like you know what you’re doing, swirling your wine and sniffing it before you sip, as the tasting consultant watches you intently.
It shouldn’t be like that, and at Lookout Winery, it’s the exact opposite. “It’s not about being a wine snob,” says owner Chuck Bordogna. “It’s about finding what you like.”
A comfortable atmosphere welcomes you to try new wines you wouldn’t normally consider. The favorite? Buttery Chardonnay. Combined with the imported cheeses on a pizza pie, it’s the perfect accent to an already incredible meal. Lookout Winery’s wine tasting comes with a scorecard so you can track your favorite wines. When you’ve finished the tasting and have settled on a wine, your bartender will suggest the perfect pizza to pair with it.
Rieslings with a tang of green apple, Zinfandels with hints of hints of strawberry and mostly raspberry flavor, and Gewurztraminers that go hand in hand with spicy pies—these are some of the unique Bordogna handcrafted wines.
The Bordogna Family has been perfecting wine since their time in Italy, before WWI gained owner Chuck Bordogna’s grandfather citizenship in America. “We make it the Italian way, the natural way; with gravity,” Chuck says. “You can’t have a true Italian experience if the wine isn’t made like they do in Italy.”
At Lookout Winery, it’s all about the experience, and it’s a special one. From the view overlooking the Tennessee River, to the aroma of fresh pizza pies baking in their wood-fired oven, a trip to Lookout Winery is a sensory experience in more ways than one.
But the most important sense satisfied here? Taste. Taste the wine, taste the pizza and save yourself a trip to Italy by immersing yourself in the Italian atmosphere of Lookout Winery.
