Schoolmate of Rusty

Rusty & I were classmates in grades 6 & 7 as well as alto warblers in the chorus @ Anderson Elementary in south Knoxville -- I remember Rusty had a white sweatshirt emblazoned with an all - red photo - style portrait of Mozart (or Beethoven maybe ?) -- on the day JFK was killed, one of our early afternoon 6th - grade classes was being held in a sectioned - off area of the gym -- the school admin had made NO announcement to the students re the events that day in Dallas -- Rusty had looked out a window & saw his dad outside waiting in his car to pick up Rusty's younger sister, who got out an hour earlier with grades 1 & 2 -- anyway, Rusty snuck out the door & got the news of the murder of President Kennedy, and came back inside to tell me immediately -- I know we were the first kids in our class to learn that horrible news & maybe even the first (in grades 3 - 8) at Anderson Elementary to find out
