Disney creates a superhero classic with heart and style
With all the talk about the Marvel Cinematic Universe and this week’s release of the oh-so-eagerly-awaited new “Avengers” movie, it’s the perfect time to look back at a Marvel-based comic book film that went in an unexpected—and delightful—direction.
When Disney bought the rights to the Marvel comics, their animation division sifted through dozens of titles to find something that clicked with them and found "Big Hero 6".
The story of a young boy and his utterly non-threatening bulbous medically-minded robot Baymax struck an immediate chord with audiences, both young and just young-at-heart.
Add to that a gorgeous look at a Bay Area that never was and strong lessons about teamwork and overcoming self-doubt, what better way to spend a Saturday at the library than by revisiting San Fransokyo?
