Mario Bava’s “The Whip and the Body” to air on Ch. 12
The cast and crew of Chattanooga’s own performance art group Shock Theatre turn out lucky number Episode 13 with Mario Bava’s 1963 horror classic, “The Whip and the Body.”
A brutal but compelling ghost story drives the plot in this Italian horror thriller. The film takes place at an isolated castle on the Eastern European coast. Kurt (Christopher Lee), the older son of Count Menliff (Gustavo De Nardo), is in marriage preparations with Nevenka (Daliah Lavi).
However, Kurt had had an affair with Tania, the daughter of the Menliffs’ servant Giorgia (Harriet Medin), and Tania committed suicide because of Kurt’s prospective marriage. This is a film to watch if you’re a film enthusiast. Mario Bava is a master at lighting, set design and cinematography.
You can also expect to see Dingbat and Dirge accidentally electrocute Dr. Shock and Nurse Goodbody. It doesn’t turn out well for our humble horror host and his devilishly lovely sidekick. Tune in and find out how they recover from their trials and travails.
All the fun gets underway on Saturday night (Sunday morning) just after midnight on WDEF-TV12.
