Renew the British Invasion this weekend at The Foundry
Get your Yellow Submarine ready. Chattanooga’s most popular (and perhaps only) Beatles cover band is playing at The Foundry Lounge at the Chattanoogan Hotel Friday and Saturday, Mar. 6 and 7.
The Pool formed in 1989 by Jason Norris, who placed an ad in the local paper looking for “Beatles Enthusiasts.” Michael Welch was the first to answer the ad and Dave Cornwell and Nick Honerkamp followed suit.
The current band members are Welch (vocals, guitar, flute, and some keys), Cornwell (vocals, guitar, keyboards, and mandolin), Honerkamp (vocals and bass) and Monte Coulter (drums and percussion).
The Pool’s band name is a play on Liverpool, since, according to the band, “The Pool” sounds better than “The Liver.”
The group plays music from the original British invasion and beyond, including British bands from the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s.
