Getting Experimental with Elka Bong
Southside Studio’s Salon Studio Series welcomes Elka Bong into their intimate performance space this Friday evening at 8 p.m. If you’re looking for something experimental and outside the norm, this exactly where you’ll want to be.
Al Margolis, a well-known experimental music performer and recording artist, will join up with Walter Wright, an interdisciplinary artist whose practice includes computer programming, electro-acoustic music, and video performance. The combination promises to be a show unlike any other.
Al Margolis, a/k/a “If Bwana”, was an activist in the ‘80s American cassette underground through his cassette label Sound of Pig Music. He co-founded experimental music label Pogus Productions, which he continues to run.
His partner in the show, Walter Wright, has developed software and hardware for artists including the Video Shredder, a desktop video processor for the TARGA2K. Walter is also a co-founder of 119 Gallery, the first digital art gallery on the web, which is located in Lowell, MA.
The cost is $10 to the public, and it will be the best $10 you ever spend on a music and art show.
