Every third Thursday of the month, the Heritage House Arts and Civic Center delves into the film archives to present an overlooked or long-unseen classic movie.
In “Abraham Lincoln,” from legendary director D.W. Griffith, the 16th president’s life is depicted in the years leading up to his presidency, as well as his leadership during the American Civil War.
The script was co-written by Stephen Vincent Benét, author of the Civil War prose poem “John Brown’s Body” and has come to be regarded as one of the definitive films on the life of the revered president (who was not, regardless of what you may have heard, a vampire hunter).
The Heritage House presentation is from a restored print in the Kino Classics Blu-ray collection. Admission is free; popcorn and light refreshments are available.
