Floating Green with Style
green|spaces Chattanooga has come up with a whole new idea on for enjoying the city’s most prominent attraction—the Tennessee River. What better way to spend a lazy spring Saturday than rollin, rollin’—OK, make that floatin’—on the river? Floatila is the all-new community float event, using homemade rafts built with recycled materials. Build a crazy, far-out raft and hope you stay afloat!
green|spaces, as everyone knows who has not been living in a cave for several years (and if you have, you’re a greener man than I am, Gunga Din) supports enviromnent-friendly community efforts. The organizations builds environmental awareness and focuses on green construction, smart design for the city, air quality improvement, reduction of waste and energy and water conservation.
So get out and float your boat—make that raft— on May 18, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. starting at Rivermont Park and ending with an after-party in Coolidge Park with bands and plenty of food and beer. All proceeds benefit green|spaces. Registration is $20 per person (and includes a discount on admission to neighboring “Beer on Dirt.” Don’t have time to build? Green Spaces with rent you a raft!
