"Wiley and the Hairy Man"

Set deep within the mysterious Tombigbee Swamp, created through rhythm and rhyme by a mysterious chorus, this delightful spine-tingling tale follows a young boy named Wiley, his conjure-woman mother, his faithful dog, and the Hairy Man who haunts Wiley's days and dreams. The magic of this play is not fairy dust - it is soil: the magic of the earth and mud of the swamp...the magic of survival. At last, in an exciting duel of wits, Wiley learns to rely upon his own resources and conquers two villains: the Hairy Mand and his own fear.Suitable for grades 4 through 8. This play premiered at Southern Methodist University in Dallas and was toured nationally by the Everyman Players. Wiley and the Hairy Man was performed at the CTC during the 1986-87 and 1998-99 (pictured here) seasons.School Shows are September 26, 27 and October 3 and 4 at 9:30 and 11:30.
