Blue John
Rural farm families used the term "bluejohn" to describe skim milk. Pattee Wilbanks and Dale Martin chose the name because it was a metaphor for their type of music. They found that a lot can be done with a basic acoustic duo if you stick with the rock-solid basics. Says Dale, "We go out of our way to include a variety of styles. Also, the ideal song will have strong lyrics and melody. Add to that some solid vocal harmonies and some interesting instrumental accompaniment, and bingo! It's just like "bluejohn", all of the nutrients and none of the fat!"
