Fantastic Planet w/special guests Bad Friend
to
Cine-Rama 100 W. Main St., City of Chattanooga, Tennessee
One of our favorite things to do at Chattanooga Film Festival and with MES Film Club has always been to combine a band we love with a film we love and the stars have truly aligned for us on this one. Join us at Cine-Rama for a special one night only presentation of the animated sci-fi masterwork Fantastic Planet with a special appearance by Nashville's ultra-rad Bad Friend.
A bit more about Bad Friend to clue you into why we're so damn excited to have them as part of this evening:
Bad Friend channels relentless riffs of unapologetic 90s influenced rock and roll on their sophomore LP, Defeat Yourself. The band shares members with other notable Nashville titans such as Deluxin, Be Your Own Pet and The Ocelots. The album was recorded at Battle Tapes with Jeremy Fergusson and is cool and crisp on the ear sonically as it lyrically challenges the listener with heady topics such as coming of age, death and self realization.

Official Film Synopsis:
Nothing else has ever looked or felt like director René Laloux’s animated marvel Fantastic Planet, a politically minded and visually inventive work of science fiction. The film is set on a distant planet called Ygam, where enslaved humans (Oms) are the playthings of giant blue native inhabitants (Draags). After Terr, kept as a pet since infancy, escapes from his gigantic child captor, he is swept up by a band of radical fellow Oms who are resisting the Draags’ oppression and violence. With its eerie, coolly surreal cutout animation by Roland Topor; brilliant psychedelic jazz score by Alain Goraguer; and wondrous creatures and landscapes, this Cannes-awarded 1973 counterculture classic is a perennially compelling statement against conformity and violence.
Tickets are just 8 dollars in advance 10 dollars the day of the show there are a limited number available for this screening so do not miss out on one of the most mind expanding experiences your likely to have in a cinema this year and a band that we think you'll love just as much.
