Cultural identity helps to build cultural understanding in children. Creative Discovery Museum is excited to build a bridge of cultural understanding through music. The Folklife Summer Music Series will feature the cultural diversity found in the Chattanooga region. Featured bands and music groups include Rose Thorn and Fiddle Celtic Group, Ogya Band, The Tennessee Schmaltz Klezmer Band and the Indo-Cultural Art Academy.
Rose Thorn and Fiddle is a Celtic group comprised of thirty children, ranging in grades from fourth grade to high school. Rose Thorn and Fiddle, a Massachusetts-based group, consists of 20 musicians playing traditional Celtic instruments including fiddles, bass, flute and drum, as well as 10 singers. Rose Thorn and Fiddle will kick-off Creative Discovery Museum’s Folklife Summer Music and Dance Series on Friday, June 7 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Creative Discovery Museum’s Plaza. This unique music and dance series will highlight diverse traditional and cultural forms of artistic expression.
