Cultural identity helps to build cultural understanding in children. Creative Discovery Museum is excited to build a bridge of cultural understanding through music. The Folklife Summer Music Series will feature the cultural diversity found in the Chattanooga region. Featured bands and music groups include Rose Thorn and Fiddle Celtic Group, Ogya Band, The Tennessee Schmaltz Klezmer Band and the Indo-Cultural Art Academy.
Ogya Band, a group that consists of different styles such as High Life music from Ghana and other traditional and contemporary forms of African music, will also be a part of Creative Discovery Museum’s Folklife Summer Music and Dance Series. Ogya Band will perform on Saturday, June 29 at 2 p.m. at Creative Discovery Museum. Dancers will demonstrate different cultural dance forms. Following the performance, Koki Mawuko will meet with guests to answer questions and talk about his musical experience growing up in Ghana, West Africa.
