Avant-Art, the Hunter Museum of American Art’s young-minded contemporary group will host Hunter Underground, Chattanooga’s most exciting, art-focused event, on Saturday, Feb. 21, beginning at 8 p.m.
In its eighth year, Hunter Underground provides guests the chance to party in the Hunter Museum’s basement that will be converted into a night club. The party will feature music by local DJ New Planet, great food catered by Alleia, and beverages. The event also offers a silent auction of art geared toward the new collector.
“Underground offers a fun and exciting way to explore the variety of art being created in our region and a great way to show your support for the Hunter Museum,” said Leah Meulemans, Avant-Art Committee Chair.
Works in the silent auction are from local and regional artists and galleries. A preview of the silent auction items will be available at www.huntermuseum.org.
SMASH & GRAB DETAILS
One of the most popular elements of Hunter Underground is the Smash & Grab gallery, which will include several unique works hand-selected by Avant-Art’s Art Selection Committee. With the purchase of one or more Smash & Grab raffle tickets, Hunter Underground attendees can be entered into a drawing. Names will be drawn throughout the night. Attendees whose tickets are drawn have 30 seconds to enter the Smash & Grab gallery to grab a work of art to add to their personal collections. Smash & Grab tickets are $25 each or 5 for $100 to increase your odds.
Hunter Underground tickets will go on-sale beginning January 16th. Tickets must be purchased in advance online at huntermuseum.org or by calling 423.267.0968 by February 20th. Tickets are $40 per person for members of Avant-Art, $50 for non-Avant-Art members, and $60 at the door (if still available). Tickets include event admission, food, beer, wine, signature cocktails and soft drinks. Must be 21 or older to attend.
