Kicking off the Rose of Project's "Party with a Purpose" Series!!!
Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration commemorating the ending of slavery in the United States. Dating back to 1865, it was on June 19th that the Union soldiers, led by Major General Gordon Granger, landed at Galveston, Texas with news that the war had ended and that the enslaved were now free.
Our 2016 Theme:
"Celebrating Our History Beyond Slavery"
Men, women, and children join us as we celebrate our freedom and go on a journey of self discovery. We will explore our history BEYOND slavery through live entertainment, guest speakers, authentic dishes, and cultural vendors.
African/Cultural/Black Pride Attire Required for entry!!!
