Master Gardeners Free Class: "Straw Bale Gardening"
to
UT Extension Office 6183 Adamson Cir., City of Chattanooga, Tennessee
The Master Gardeners of Hamilton County (MGHC) present a free class open to the public taught by Certified Straw Bale Instructor Robbie Summerour. “Straw Bale Gardening" is a new concept in natural container gardening that is gaining popularity for its versatility, practicality and economic impact. With very little investment, even those with poor soil or limited space can grow vegetables, herbs, and flowers in the equivalent of a raised bed. The result is a garden that is both productive and requires much less work with weeding, watering, and pest control. In addition, straw bales act as a natural insulator, extending the growing season with cold weather vegetables. No special tools are needed, and no special knowledge of gardening is really required to be successful. Novice and experienced gardeners alike will enjoy learning about this economical new way to garden.”
