The Folk School of Chattanooga & Chattanooga Contra Dancers present an afternoon Waltz Workshop and evening Community Contra Dance, featuring local talent and open to all. At 4:00 p.m. Wendy Carson will teach a Waltz Workshop for beginners and experienced dancers: learn waltz basics and smooth partnering moves to make your waltzing more wonderful. At 7:30 p.m. caller Vicky Herndon with music by Christie Burns and Friends will lead the evening Contra Dance for all. There will be a contra basics workshop for beginners at the start of the evening -- so plan to arrive early!
Everyone is invited to join our welcoming, family-friendly community and enjoy this lively, traditional social dance. No partners are necessary. All dances are taught in walk-throughs. Toe-tapping live music makes even sitting out enjoyable. Wear comfortable clothes and bring an extra pair of clean, soft-soled shoes for dancing.
Admission for Waltz Workshop & Contra Dance: $12; Contra Dance only: $8 and $5 students
