Outdoor Chattanooga presents “The City Dark”
“This film makes you want to go find a starry sky to camp under quickly, before it’s all gone.” (Neil Genzlinger, The New York Times)
After moving to New York City, filmmaker Ian Cheney felt the loss of the nighttime darkness he had become accustomed to in rural Maine. In this Emmy-nominated PBS film, Cheney examines what the loss of the night sky might be doing to wildlife, as well as generations of people that never get a glimpse of a starry night.
The film features a beautiful score, stunning astrophotography and a cast of eclectic scientists, philosphers, historians and lighting designers.
And don’t fret about the cold weather, as this is an indoor screening. Bring your own camp chair, picnic dinner, and non-alcoholic beverage of your choice.
