Santa Claus Comes Early for Riverbend...Delivering a Dreamy Lineup for the 2016 Kickoff!
Riverbend Festival 2016 will open with country music star Thomas Rhett on Friday, June 10th. Rhett’s latest single “Die A Happy Man” has proven he “isn’t afraid to do things his own way” (Forbes) as fans continue to make it one of the top-selling digital Country songs.
As “one of the album’s standout tracks” (Rolling Stone), the new single has cracked the Top 20 at Country radio only five weeks after its release, following four consecutive No. ones. It is his PLATINUM certified chart-topping hit “Crash And Burn” that launched his recent sophomore album 'Tangled Up', solidifying why Thomas Rhett is “well on his way to becoming country music's next legendary superstar” (Glamour). Rhett will perform at 9:30 PM on the Coca-Cola Stage June 10, 2016.
Get ready to rock on Saturday, June 11th when the classic sister duo Heart takes the stage at 9:30 PM. Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees Ann and Nancy Wilson first showed the world that women can rock when their band, Heart, stormed the charts in the ‘70’s with hits like “Crazy on You,” “Magic Man,” “Barracuda,” “Straight On,” and many more.
Not only did the Wilson sisters lead the band, they wrote the songs and played the instruments too, making them the first women in rock to do such. Heart continued topping the charts through the ‘80’s and ‘90’s with huge hits like “These Dreams,” “Alone,” “What About Love,” “If Looks Could Kill,” “Never,” and a string of other hits that showcased the sisters’ enormous talents as musicians, singers and songwriters.
Sunday, June 12 will deliver Trample By Turtles to the Coke Stage at 6:30 PM. The new age bluegrass band is now in high demand as they reach new heights with each album. Friends of the Festival Entertainment Director, Dixie Fuller adds, “Trampled By Turtles has played every major festival over the last two years and they’re one of the most requested modern age bluegrass acts.”
The release of 2012’s ‘Stars And Satellites’ saw the band play to more fans than ever, sell close to 100,000 albums, make their first national television appearance on The Late Show With David Letterman, and have their first concert feature, Live at First Avenue, broadcast on Palladia.
