LaFayette’s the place to be this weekend.
Cherokee Farms in LaFayette is getting ready to rock. The 2014 Roots Fest puts the groove down this weekend, May 23-25, and this year’s lineup includes more than 30 local and regional musical performances set to satisfy any and all music tastes.
Check out a few of the headliners, for example. Honey Island Swamp Band plays an interesting take on jazz that’s been labeled “Bayou Americana”. Knoxville’s own The Dirty Guv’nahs is another band with Americana influences, but with an emphasis on songwriting.
Music Collection Magazine said the Guv’nahs, “don’t just play music, they capture the human experience through song.” Nashville’s Machines are People Too will rock the farm with their unique sound of synth pop, and Chattanooga’s Strung Like a Horse will show us what gypsy-punk-garage-grass is all about.
You want bonfires, face and body painting, a waterslide and slip ‘n slide, exploring art, vendors, plus a children’s tent and free admission for children under 12? Bring the whole family!
Weekend passes start at just $45, and with the farm being a mere 23 miles from Chattanooga, you don’t have to travel very far to get back to your roots.
