Noog’s Mr. Music Plays the Tivoli
Chattanooga legend of the clarinet Jay Craven will help celebrate Gary Wilkes’ 20th anniversary with the Chattanooga Symphony & Opera Youth Orchestras, as they conclude their 2012-2013 season on May 6 at 7 p.m. at the Tivoli. The evening stars all four orchestras and featured soloists, including Craven (Chattanooga’s “Mr. Music”) and Thomas West (PAL Vocal Competition winner).
Craven was the conductor of the youth orchestra when Wilkes was a student member. The selection that Craven has chosen to play, “Concertino for Clarinet and Orchestra” by Karl Maria von Weber, is the same selection he played in 1953 with the Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra when he was the student concerto competition winner. The CSOYO Prelude and Etude Orchestras will open the concert, followed by the CSOYO Philharmonic Orchestra. The program concludes with the CSOYO Symphony Orchestra.
$7 for adults, $5 for children, students, and seniors. (423) 267-9011 for more information.
