MLK music tribute
This year marks the 50th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King’s legendary “I Have a Dream” speech, orated from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial during the Civil Rights movement’s Great March on Washington. With this speech, King called for racial equality and an end to discrimination, and inspired an entire generation to take action.
To mark the occasion, the Creative Underground, a new community arts initiative, has collaborated with Sharon Kelly, owner of Mocha Restaurant and Music Lounge, to present an afternoon of moving musical and literary reflections that aims to bring our community together to pay homage to the profound influence of King’s words and actions that continue to have impact on us all today.
The event, scheduled for 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 20, will also feature a buffet brunch prepared by Mocha’s chef, Michael Sylman. Admission for musical tribute and buffet is $15.
Mocha is located at 3116 Brainerd Road. For more information about the event and obtaining tickets, visit tcuchatt.com or call (423) 402-0452.
