Cornbread Festival
17 Years of Everything Cornbread
Fret no more, cornbread lovers. Hippies have their music festival and, well—you have yours.
The National Cornbread Festival is celebrating its 17th year in South Pittsburg on April 27 and 28.
Activities for the festival (beside stuffing your face with cornbread) include historic tours of homes via a double-decker bus, arts and craft vendors, food vendors, a full midway-style carnival and, of course. a cornbread cook-off.
The festival also includes a 5-K road race, which kicks off the festivities Saturday, April 27 at 7 a.m. The 4-H cook-off competitions follow at 9:30 a.m., with The National Cornbread Cook-off beginning at 1 p.m. in the competition area on 2nd Street. Weekend-long activities include singers, dancers, buttermilk chugs and dry cornbread eating and ice cream eating contests at Citizens Park Stage on 4th Street and in the newly renovated Princess Theater.
Cornbread Alley will be open where customers can buy and sample up to nine different cornbread dishes. Great activities are available for the entire family throughout the weekend (including stuffing everyone’s face with cornbread).
