Local chef represents Chattanooga in national chef competition
Waffles...eggs...bacons—it’s all delicious, and relatively simple. But whipping up a gourmet breakfast is a daunting task to inexperienced chefs everywhere. French toast? Eggs Benedict?
These are meals for the next level of cooking expertise. chef Shelley Cooper, of TerraMae, knows her stuff and has a recipe to combine them both those classics to create her Poor Man’s Eggs Benedict French Toast.
Cooper will be participating in the Hometown Breakfast Battle, the largest national chef competition, which will pit 135 chefs from 135 cities against one another to take home the championship title.
September is National Breakfast Month and a breakfast showdown couldn’t be more perfect to welcome fall. In honor of 135 years of the brand, Thomas’s English Muffins is putting on the battle in which chefs will utilize the company’s bagels or English muffins to showcase how fun and easy creating new and unique breakfasts can be.
And the best part? You get to decide who wins!
Voting opened on Sept. 14 and will run for two weeks as the chefs are weeded out to finalize the top 16. Vote for Chattanooga’s representative Shelley Cooper at thomasbreakfastbattle.com under the “Chef” tab or vote for her recipe.
