The Pillowman
The Pillowman
by Martin McDonagh
ABOUT THE SHOW:
The imagination is a powerful tool for how we see, behave and experience the world around us. The Pillowman takes a look at how a child's imagination was both manipulated and influenced to create extremely imaginative stories- green pigs, little men carved from apples, a little boy who gets his toes dismembered to save his life.
These creative stories then spark a series of murders, which raises the question of who is actually at fault, beyond the surface. "It's a fascinating theoretical approach to what I think is one the basic facets of human existence- imagination," says director Garry Lee Posey. "An apparent theme is the subjugation of the imagination and what it means to live in a world void of it or to be governed in a world afraid of it."
