212 Market’s Toast to Summer’s Last Rays
As fall creeps closer, the tastes that come with it will return once again. Soon, it’ll be pumpkin spiced everything, but for 212 Market, summer isn’t over yet—not without a toast. Their “End of Summer” cocktail will bring those warm summer days swimming back, at least until you reach the bottom of the glass.
An establishment that prides itself on buying local, 212 Market has been “green” for years, “long before it was the cool thing to do,” owner Sally Moses says. They pride themselves on using only fresh juices as well as being particular about liquors. While they have the major brands, “We like to use local brands,” Sally says, one being Pickers vodka from Nashville.
Pickers Blueberry Vodka is the key ingredient in 212’s “End of Summer” cocktail. Lemonade, made with fresh lemon, apples, and blueberries, Pickers Blueberry Vodka and a lemon garnish come together in a sweet, but tangy refresher that could only be better if it were being drunk in a hammock.
While everything’s better in a hammock, the bar at 212 Market’s bar is nearly as relaxing. “We’re a Cheers-y type of place,” Sally says as she points to a small plaque underneath the lip of the bar. It says, “Remembering Joe Lewis,” in honor of a customer who always sat in the same seat. It’s a place that welcomes anyone, even if they don’t yet know your name.
If you’ve yet to stop at their bar, try “The Euro” when you do. A classic drink made with herb-infused liquors, “The Euro” is like an herbal tea but with more self-confidence. More of a wine person? 212 Market has been a winner of the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence since 1999, and has a list of more than 100 different wines.
No matter your taste, 212 Market is sure to have something that’ll brighten your spirits.
